With the March 2022 passing of Florida’s Parental Rights in Education Act, commonly referred to as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill, anti-gay curriculum legislation has become a mainstream issue. Using the ideological frameworks of intersectionality and the epistemology of ignorance, potential intentions and impacts of anti-gay curriculum laws are explored. This presentation examines the political strategies and thought processes behind conservative logic through discourse analysis. Right-wing rhetoric will be dissected in the interest of exposing how anti-queer ideologies are normalized and spread. Alternative educational methods, founded in queer pedagogy, will be discussed to provide insight on the possible future of inclusive curricula implementation.
