The popularity of e-cigarettes has boomed in recent years, as have the controversies associated with their use. This project examines the perceptions and use of e-cigarettes or vaping devices. It draws on interviews with e-cigarette users and content analysis of social media discourse. My aim is to provide a glimpse into both the phenomena and negative reactions to it. Are we dealing with what anthropologists sometimes call a "moral panic"? Or is there genuine cause for alarm?
