Everyone has a person in their life they wished they knew more. My dad is this person for me. I have lived my whole life never knowing who he really was: what his passions were, his dreams, ambitions, and overall lifestyle prior to me being in the picture. My dad is a person who has lived many lives but his reserved personality makes it hard for him to express his authentic self. This essay that I wrote for my Spanish for Heritage Speakers class gave me an opening to interview him and write his truth. Ultimately, I was able to understand him better and what makes him human, just like everyone else.
