This thesis explores the impact of boardroom diversity—specifically gender and cultural diversity—on companies' adoption of renewable energy. Diverse perspectives in gender and cultural backgrounds facilitate innovation, robust decision-making, and effective problem-solving within organizations. Concurrently, integrating green initiatives not only reduces ecological footprints but also enhances corporate reputations, fostering sustainable practices crucial for long-term success. Using data from firms across 60 different countries during 2002-2021 and regression analysis, this study reveals statistically significant positive relationships between gender and cultural diversity and firms' utilization of renewable energy. These findings emphasize the importance of diversity in promoting environmentally sustainable decision-making processes within corporate boardrooms.
