In my thesis, I will examine the life of Augustus through ancient sources to determine his level of competence as the first emperor of Rome. I will aim to show how he ruled through experimental laws that produced a great deal of anger in the eyes of many citizens. His obsession with the military led him to force Romans to an endless amount of taxes. Augustus used women at his disposal and he only saw women as a way to promote his political agenda.
