Many biological systems rely on specific conformations and arrangements of structures to function properly, and the human body is no different. This project looks at ten structure-function relationships within the human body to connect abnormal shape to various pathologies through the lens of recent research. Each structure-function relationship mini-project consists of a short review paper and an amateur drawing emphasizing the specific shape of the structure that allows it to function correctly. Topics range from the specific shape of the skull to the development of the kidney before birth, all connected by the common thread of how integral shape can be to proper function.
