Simulating the Energy Consumption of Karp Hall Using EnergyPlus

The objective of my senior project is to simulate the energy consumption of Karp Hall using Department of Energy modeling software called EnergyPlus. My goal is to input all energy specifications of the building into the program and match the simulated consumption values with the actual to within a certain percentage. I will use several graphical user interfaces including OpenStudio and Google Sketchup to build the geometry of Karp Hall and import it into EnergyPlus. From there I will apply the internal loads of the building including: heating, venting, cooling, lighting, process and plug loads, and water consumption. I will set operating schedules and create output reports in order to return the required values of energy consumption over a determined simulation time period. Once the simulation has been completed, I will provide an analysis of ways to improve the efficiency using LEED specifications.
