Haitians (Voodoo), African Americans (Hoodoo), Jamaicans (Obeah), Dominicans (Santa Maria) music and dances offer an insight into the culture of the West Indies. The melodies, rhythms and moves of its people is communal tradition. The Afro-Diaspora of the Caribbean has fused traditional spiritual with Christians beliefs. My piece focuses on Voodoo, a unique form of expression that has survived the ravages of slavery. A dance inspired by Haiti, a tale woven from the cloth of resilience.
