By visualizing the patient's heart, point-of-care ultrasound ensures the timely diagnosis of life-threatening cardiac complications in the ICU. However, due to the understaffing and overcrowding consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, point-of-care imaging by trained medical personnel has become harder to obtain. The goal of this project is to design a device that aids in the positioning and fixation of an ultrasound probe in a patient’s subxiphoid area. Such fixation should allow for intermittent monitoring of the patient’s heart through the subcostal view and enable medical personnel to more easily and immediately identify cardiac complications in the ICU.
