Micro-CT Preparation Techniques

My proposal for Steinmetz is a poster presentation of my scholar’s research project. I am working in the Biology department to develop an understanding of different techniques of tissue preparation of the Micro-Ct machine. My research involves testing different preparation techniques to understand how different ones can enhance different aspects of the images that are produced. For example what preparation gives the best image of muscle tissue. My poster will include pictures of the images that I have produced using  the different techniques. I will also include information about the different programs that are necessary to process the Micro-CT images. Although the work I am conducting is not exactly ground breaking, it will be vital in creating better, clearer images in other work. For example if someone is trying to analyze muscle tissue of a specimen he or she would be able to use my research to decided how to best prepare the samples. My poster presentation will include the research that I have conducted through out my two term project as well as the further applications that can be done.
