Parking Lot Occupancy Monitor

As the Internet of Things (IOT) surrounds our everyday lives, our ability to understand and control the things around us will become much easier.  Companies around the world have already begun offering systems to monitor the weather, the temperature in a home or even a person’s heart rate.  The goal of this senior project is to successfully design and implement an efficient and inexpensive system to monitor a parking lot, and provide information in a user-friendly way to help drivers find open parking spots.  There exists many systems that attempt to accomplish this in many different ways, however the majority of them are more expensive and more complicated than the proposed design.  This difference in design will hopefully prove to be a less expensive, yet effective system that will inform drivers of vacant parking spaces.
