Throughout college, I have gone through a variety of computer setups involving multiple computers (including smartphones). While this has been convenient, I always seem to have files on the wrong computer. Cloud storage solutions with file syncing capability help solve this problem, but have storage limits. Remote desktop solutions are also flawed in that they require the target computer to be powered on. Therefore, I developed a system which enables a user to turn on a computer from their Android device. A cellular enabled microcontroller is connected to the computer and used to simulate a power button press given input from an Android application. This device is capable of remotely powering on and off the connected computer, and read back the computer power status, in a secure and efficient manner.
