The topic of this presentation is the hidden power of femininity utilized to counter the growing control of masculinity in the Argentine military regime. This is illustrated both via literature and historical events, such as the Grandmothers of the Plaza de Mayo. The presentation will link this historical context with Gabriela Cabezón Cámara's nouvelle "Le viste la cara a Dios" (2011) and Diana Taylor's essay "Gendering the National Self" to provide an in-depth review and analysis of gender dynamics. To triumph over the immense power held by masculinity, women turned inward to find power in their own femininity and role in society. This is best exemplified by Cabezón Cámara's character, Beya.
