For orientation and mobility (O&M), one of the common problems faced by visually impaired individuals is crossing roads. To solve this issue, we developed an iOS application since recent studies have discovered that a vast number of visually impaired individuals are using smartphones (iPhones in particular) due to the ease and convenience it brings in their daily life. Our application can notify the user through vibrational notification when they are approaching a crosswalk using iBeacon detection. Secondly, the application informs the user through audio when it is safe to cross by detecting traffic lights using the phone's built-in camera and an offline image processing model (Yolo5). The application notifies with a 97.5% confidence. In addition, the application size is only 30MB and consumes average battery power according to Apple’s standards. Currently the application is being tested on real devices with a model traffic light.
