A quantum optical setup was constructed to detect single photons using the process of spontaneous parametric down conversion. An incident pump photon splits into a pair of photons, signal and idler, and are measured in coincidence. Using this method, we conducted single photon interference experiments using a Mach-Zhender interferometer.
