The United States pays three times as much for prescription drugs than any other country and scholars continuously search for a reason as to why the United States pays more for prescription drugs. A major difference between the United States and most other countries is that most other countries have price controls, which cap the amount of money that can be paid for a prescription drug. However, the United States has failed to implement one. After reviewing the scholarship on the driving factors of the price of a prescription drug, it can be determined that a price control can be an effective way to reduce prescription drug costs.
