I will be presenting about how the representation of several mortal couples in the myths of Ovid's epic poem Metamorphoses reflects the moral reforms of the Emperor Augustus in ancient Rome. I have examined specific stories while focusing on marriage and adultery, and explained what image Ovid might have been portraying about families and relationships during this time in Roman history. I will examine the stories of Orpheus and Eurydice, Philemon and Baucis, Procne and Tereus, and Pyramus and Thisbe.
