Witkoppen Health & Welfare Clinic, South Africa

I will be presenting on my projects and experiences during my 2018-2019 Lauren Greene Cohen '78 Minerva Fellowship in Johannesburg, South Africa. I have spent nine months working with the Gift of Hope USA and their signature program, A FRESH Start at the NGO Witkoppen Health and Welfare Center for mom and baby pairs 0-18 months old. Our aim has been to provide a holistic health care approach to women and children in South Africa. I have worked with the HIV positive and HIV negative patient in the postnatal clinic of Witkopppen. Many of our patients come from the informal settlements of Diepsloot, Lion Park, Msawawa, Kay Sands, and Cosmo City.
