A hybrid photovoltaic and thermoelectric module could be useful for both power generation and cooling of the photovoltaic. Different configurations can optimize both the cooling of the panels and the additional power output of the thermoelectric cells. Photovoltaic panels have reduced power output when the temperature of the panel increases. This heat can be used by the thermoelectric cells to produce excess power. The excess power output can actively cool the panel or to provide enough power to replace that lost from the photovoltaic heating up.
