Finding the Relationship between Triangles and the Pythagorean Theorem using Calculus

The Pythagorean Theorem can be proven in many different ways using different fields of math. In this talk, we will discuss one proof that utilizes techniques from (multivariable) calculus to show a triangle is a right triangle if and only if the triangle’s sides, a, b, and c, satisfy the Pythagorean identity a²+b²=c².
