Pitching Training Aid

In fastpitch softball, the pitcher's whirling arm motion must be executed precisely and the ball must be released at exactly the right moment to pitch a strike. Therefore, practicing religiously and beginning at an earlier age is important to master multi-layered softball pitching skills. The pitching training aid that has been designed for this senior project, allows younger pitchers to practice without the assistance of anyone in their backyard by capturing the pitched softball and then safely and quickly tossing the ball back to the pitcher. As this is a potential consumer product, design considerations included suitability for mass production, safety, ease of transport, and ease of assembly. Keeping all of this in mind has led to an innovative design that has not been manufactured before and can allow families to purchase an affordable pitching training aid to strengthen young pitchers' skills.
