This Thesis uses Bloomberg PORT (Portfolio & Risk Analytics) to analyze the performance of Union College's Student Investment Fund (SIF). The purpose is to examine how professional portfolio attribution and performance measurement tools can be applied in an educational setting to improve investment decision making and learning. Portfolio performance attribution explains whether returns result from stock selection, sector allocation, or broader market effects, linking outcomes directly to specific investment decisions. Although Bloomberg is widely used in professional asset management, student investment funds often underutilize its analytical capabilities. By rebuilding the SIF portfolio in PORT beginning October 8, 2024 and tracking performance through the present, this project will give institutional grade analytics to students. Key attribution calculations will be replicated in Excel to validate Bloomberg's results. I will develop a guide for future SIF members, demonstrating how Bloomberg PORT can continue to be used as both a professional analytics system and learning platform.
